Jen Shah
Jen Shah (born October 4, 1973) is an American reality-television personality and entrepreneur who appeared on the program “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.” She pleaded guilty in July 2022 to conspiracy to commit wire fraud in connection with a nationwide telemarketing scheme and on January 6, 2023 was sentenced to 78 months in federal prison and five years of supervised release.[1]
Early life and career
Jen Shah grew up in Utah and built a personal-brand business focused on lifestyle, fashion and home décor. She joined the cast of “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” in 2020, gained national exposure through the show and became known for her bold persona and luxury-lifestyle image.
Federal offense and prosecution
In March 2021 federal agents arrested Shah and her assistant on charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering related to a telemarketing scheme that targeted elderly and vulnerable individuals. Prosecutors alleged the scheme involved offering business-services packages with minimal value and extracting large fees from victims. Shah pleaded guilty in July 2022 to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud after her assistant cooperated with prosecutors.[2] At the sentencing hearing in January 2023 a judge noted Shah’s leadership role in the conspiracy, imposed a 78-month sentence and ordered restitution payments to victims.[3]
Incarceration and prison experience
Shah reported to the minimum-security federal prison camp at FPC Bryan on February 17, 2023.[4] Her sentence has been reduced multiple times, with new scheduled release dates including August 30, 2026 and November 3, 2026 based on inmate-database and media reports.[5]
Life after release
As of mid-2025 Shah remains incarcerated and has stated publicly that she is using her time to focus on fitness, education and restitution payments. Her team reports she aims to return home later in 2026 and resume her personal and business life after completing her sentence.
