Notes from Alumni

  • A former resident shared on Quora: "Based on stories I've heard about other locations, Big Spring was a pretty decent camp. All buildings have A/C, which was important to me, food was decent, case manager and counselor were helpful and available."
  • The facility is built on the former Webb Air Force Base, which operated until 1977. Some of the original military structures have been repurposed for prison use.
  • One Yelp reviewer noted positively: "This facility answers the phone when you call & they are helpful."
  • The camp offers vocational training in Horticulture. Inmates who earn their GED while incarcerated receive $25.00 and a graduation photograph.
