The camp partners with Glenville State College to offer inmates the opportunity to earn an associate's or bachelor's degree in business management—one of the few federal camps offering four-year degree programs.
On August 28, 2010, inmate Harvey Brewer walked away from the minimum-security camp (which has no perimeter fence) but was apprehended attempting to reenter the facility shortly after the midnight head count discovered his absence.
The facility opened in 2003 and is located in rural central West Virginia, approximately 85 miles northeast of Charleston. The remote location can make family visitation challenging.
The camp does not offer advanced occupational education programs, though the main FCI provides training in Residential Wiring.
