Notes from Alumni

  • The camp partners with Glenville State College to offer inmates the opportunity to earn an associate's or bachelor's degree in business management—one of the few federal camps offering four-year degree programs.
  • On August 28, 2010, inmate Harvey Brewer walked away from the minimum-security camp (which has no perimeter fence) but was apprehended attempting to reenter the facility shortly after the midnight head count discovered his absence.
  • The facility opened in 2003 and is located in rural central West Virginia, approximately 85 miles northeast of Charleston. The remote location can make family visitation challenging.
  • The camp does not offer advanced occupational education programs, though the main FCI provides training in Residential Wiring.
