Notes from Alumni

  • A former inmate named Hoffman reported that during a 2024 lockdown at the camp, windows were screwed shut and prisoners were confined to their rooms without the ability to move around freely.
  • A Kansas Reflector report (2025) documented concerns including extended lockdowns, delayed medical treatment, restricted family contact, and no access to religious services.
  • A wife reported her husband "sees sewage backing up into his cell" and that inmates are "sleeping in their jackets" due to heating issues.
  • The Kansas Federal Public Defenders wrote to the warden in May 2025 about a months-long rat infestation showing "no signs of abating," with reports of rats in food areas and common spaces.
  • The facility was re-designated from USP to FCI in 2024 to align with its current medium-security status.
