Notes from Alumni
- Actor Wesley Snipes served time at McKean in the early 2010s for tax evasion, bringing national attention to the facility.
- Former U.S. Congressman Chaka Fattah of Pennsylvania reported to McKean to serve a 10-year sentence on corruption charges.
- A DC inspection report (2019) noted that when asked how staff treats DC inmates compared to others, seven reported worse treatment, three reported equal, and none reported better.
- Six individuals reported staff making insulting remarks, mostly regarding race or DC residency status.
- The remote location in Bradford, Pennsylvania, creates limited travel and hotel accommodations for visitors—a common concern for family members.
