Notes from Alumni

  • During the COVID-19 pandemic, News 4 San Antonio spoke with inmates who complained about lack of working air conditioning for weeks, no cold water, sewage backup, lack of social distancing, and minimal medical treatment.
  • The Bureau of Prisons acknowledged experiencing issues with air conditioning and a water line break in early July, stating they utilized portable coolers and industrial fans to assist with cooling.
  • The camp offers diverse vocational training including General Automotive, HVAC, Microsoft Applications, and Wastewater Instruction.
  • Recreation programs include yoga, Climber Club, Bike Club, Run Club, and Walk Club—emphasizing fitness and wellness alongside traditional sports leagues.
  • A 2008 riot between rival prison gangs at the main FCI left 22 prisoners injured and one dead.
